Story
I am abseil-utely crazy about saving young lives. The Sir David Martin Foundation works with the most challenging and disadvantaged young people who slip between the cracks.
They display the most incredible courage each and every day of their recovery. I’m doing the most courageous thing I can to support them. Abseiling down 26 stories from the AMP building at Circular Quay, Sydney. I have always resisting any temptation to jump out of an aircraft, even with a parachute, so it is completely illogical for me to jump off a building, but some causes are just worth it.
I was very honoured to know Sir David Martin. His recognition of society's need to support young lives who need a helping hand was inspirational, and continues through the work of his foundation. If you have received this email from me, it is because I trust you will also feel able to make a small contribution to helping youths in need. No matter how big or small each donation makes a difference. One big leap for me, and lots of small donations (or big ones) from you - all helps.
Activity
Sir David Martin Foundation
Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.
